Bancroft Library

Every classroom visits the library to borrow English and French books. Parent volunteers help the librarian by providing students with enriched visits to the library. Younger students have story time in English or French. Our library is fully automated and computers are available for students to search the online catalogue.

We are always improving our library with new acquisitions in English and French, as well as new furniture such as desks and shelving. It is our constant goal to make the library an inviting place for all.

About our Library

The Bancroft School Library has a large number of English and French books, reference materials and computer-based resources. Students visit the library weekly and borrow books in both official languages on a one to two week loan basis. The children are held responsible for their library books in the event of loss or damage.

The library is staffed by a part-time library technician and by parent volunteers who help keep the collection in order, read stories to the children, help them choose books and assist them with research projects. We are always improving our library with new acquisitions in English and French. We want our library to be an inviting place for all.

In addition, we enjoy a close relationship with the outstanding Côte St-Luc library and our classes visit there at least once a year. Bancroft students can become members of the library regardless of their address! Because we belong to the EMSB, we also have access to the School Board’s online resources. With all these partners in school and in the community, access to appropriate and needed information is never a problem for Bancroft students and their families.
